Booking a Cabin in Grand Lake, CO

About Grand Lake

Looking to book a cabin in Grand Lake, CO? Maybe it’s a vacation, maybe it’s a retreat, or maybe it’s just a quick weekend get-away.. There are a few important things to know about this magnificent town perched at 8, 369 feet. Grand Lake is an amazing place that prides itself on it’s small business architecture. You won’t find large restaurant chains or big-box stores. You’ll find a quaint town nestled between the Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake with access to two other larger lakes, Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby, fed by multiple rivers. The town is the epitome of Colorado mountain living and carries with it an overwhelming sense of relaxation.

Where to book your cabin

Well, we are obviously biased on this topic. We think a hilltop cabin with views of the lake and river valley is a great place to start (humble brag). The reality is, you can’t go wrong in this remarkable town. Grand Lake is small, which means you have relatively easy access to many of the highlights of the town. There are downtown spots that are walkable to many restaurants or there are cabins that feel remote, but are only minutes from town. Access to the Rocky Mountain National Park is directly off the entrance of the town. No matter your preference on where to book, there is plenty to do in the town of Grand Lake.

What To Do In Grand Lake

As I write this, it is winter time, so let’s start there. We chose to be in this town because of it’s diverse offerings. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing…you name it, it’s all right outside your door. We are talking about participating in activities in what must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, trees, wildlife and more, you can literally open your door and be engrossed in all this town has to offer. If you have a hankering for some downhill skiing, it’s only 15 minutes away at Granby Ranch or 30 minutes away at Winter Park. One of the best resources for information is The Chamber of Commerce. Their web page has every detail covered. If you run out of activities, just sitting on a deck in this beautiful town and looking out at the scenery is more than enough, trust me.

Grand Lake Restaurants

There are many great restaurants in Grand Lake. Our favorites vary wildly in vibe, and range from bars to restaurants. If you are looking for live music, a lively crowd and a fantastic layout with a large deck, you must visit Charlie’s Sports Bar & Grill. It’s a town staple and never disappoints. Colorado does Mexican food right, and Charlie’s is no exception. Amazing tacos, solid burritos and life changing Enchiladas. The price is right, the vibe is right and the quality is legit. Make sure you add this one to your list.

Another solid bar as you approach Grand Lake proper, is Roadhouse Bar & Grill. Complete with a life-size cut out of none other than Dalton (Patrick Swayze’s character in Roadhouse), Roadhouse has wood laden walls and a country bar feel that brings you right into the small town mind set. It’s immediately apparent that everyone in the bar knows each other and the service is fantastic. The bar is equipped with pool tables and a large bar that snakes its way around the restaurant. The Firehouse Burger could be considered the best burger ever made. I get it every time I’m there. Roadhouse is non negotiable if you are looking for an authentic feel with great people and food.
